Alike v4.0 is now even more powerful and user-friendly with its web-based interface, cloud capabilities, and key performance enhancements to increase speed and stability. With Alike 4.0, you don’t need Jedi mind tricks to master your backups.

Web-Based UI Saves Time and Money

Alike v4.0 was designed to offer a solution that’s even simpler and more cost-effective for businesses of all sizes. We understand that for any business or organization, time is money. That’s why we introduced a web-based management console that provides increased simplicity, speed, and visibility to your backup and disaster recovery needs.

For Alike DR users, we’ve included a few offsite vaulting enhancements to provide increased durability for any environment. Get site level protection anywhere with a connection to Amazon’s popular S3 cloud storage without needing a separate offsite location. And you don’t have to be an IT expert or buy expensive hardware to use Alike 4.0. Anyone can easily manage data backups remotely from any computer or mobile device. Really, it’s that simple.

If you are already familiar with Alike Standard or Alike DR, one of the more exciting new UI features is the ability to create new jobs in just a few clicks. Simply drag and drop any new backup, replication, or restore jobs into the prompt, hit save, and you’re done! In addition, you have the added capability to schedule jobs on a daily, monthly, or one time basis. Or if you simply want to view your backup history, Alike v4.0 allows you to view your backup history for up to a year in an interactive chart. We’ve even included advanced VM options in the settings for experienced users.

You can also manage your hosts by adding a physical or virtual host directly from the console at any time. However, if you ever need additional support, you can easily troubleshoot issues with active links to our Knowledge Base. Other Important Changes

In addition to technical enhancements, we’ve made some other important changes with the release of Alike v4.0, including the removal of Alike Free; a slight change in our upgrade process; and a shift to socket-based licensing. Please refer to our licensing overview FAQs for any questions about our new licensing model.

Alike Free Retires

While Alike Free has served as an invaluable tool for many of our users, we have made the reluctant decision to discontinue our free version from our current product line. Keep in mind that by upgrading to Alike Standard now, you will not only get the benefits of the new additions and bug fixes, but you will also get a year’s worth of free maintenance backed by personalized support from our friendly Tech Support team. We’re also offering a limited time special discount on an upgrade to a full license of Alike Standard as a token of appreciation for our Alike Free users.

As with any major decision like this, we anticipate some frustration from our users. But we hope that our new, lower price point for Alike Standard and simpler licensing model will provide an affordable, seamless upgrade path for any existing Alike Free user. Please know that your feedback has been an integral part of improving our software over the years, and we welcome any comments or questions as you begin to use Alike v4.0.

Important Upgrade Notice for v3.5 Users

Customers who are currently under active maintenance contracts using v3.5 of Alike Standard or Alike DR are eligible to upgrade their licenses to 4.0. However, please note that there will be no upgrade path from v3.5, so your system will require a clean install. Specific instructions on transferring your current licenses are available here.
